How the Quality of Life Indicators Report is Used

The QLI report is used by businesses, social service organizations, the news media, government officials and everyday citizens to learn about their community and how they can help contribute to improvements in key sectors.
                                          • Candidates for elected office used the report and quoted from it during the 2011 campaign season
                                          • QLI is used as a foundation for planning efforts in many community and nonprofit organizations including municipal and county government
                                          • Businesses use it as a recruitment tool
                                          • Economic development organizations use it as a relocation tool

The QLI report also fits together with other community programs.  For example, Dream City was a citizen-led initiative to determine our collective community vision. It identified what our citizens want for our community. QLI provides an annual statistical measurement of how we’re doing in realizing our vision and where improvements need to be made. Numerous community programs are initiated each year to help implement the Dream City vision.  Program examples:
                                          • Mayor’s Spirit of the Springs “Community Celebration”
                                          • Diversity Forum and it’s “Everybody Welcome Celebration”
                                          • Southern Colo. Business Partnership, and its “Engaging With Youth” program

                                          What People Are Saying

“The Quality of Life Indicators are a valuable tool that allow us to measure our progress toward being the finest community in the country for healthy living and raising a family.”  Merv Bennett, Colorado Springs City Council

“We look at the Quality of Life Indicators to see how this information is applicable to the Town of Monument and strive to see if we can meet the needs of as many of our constituents.”
Travis W. Easton, Mayor of the Town of Monument

“Several members of our organization are actively engaged in the QLI process, and we consider the resulting data to be a key element of our strategic planning arsenal.” Venita L. Pine, Peak Vista Community Health Centers
