How the Quality of Life Indicators Report is Used
The QLI report is used by businesses, social service organizations, the news media, government officials and everyday citizens to learn about their community and how they can help contribute to improvements in key sectors.
The QLI report also fits together with other community programs. For example, Dream City was a citizen-led initiative to determine our collective community vision. It identified what our citizens want for our community. QLI provides an annual statistical measurement of how we’re doing in realizing our vision and where improvements need to be made. Numerous community programs are initiated each year to help implement the Dream City vision. Program examples:
- Candidates for elected office used the report and quoted from it during the 2011 campaign season
- QLI is used as a foundation for planning efforts in many community and nonprofit organizations including municipal and county government
- Businesses use it as a recruitment tool
- Economic development organizations use it as a relocation tool
